The Portland Timbers are an American soccer team based in Portland, Oregon (United States). The franchise was founded in 2009 and plays of the highest League in the American Soccer League 2011 in major League Soccer. By 2015, the Portland Timbers won the MLS season.

The road to the MLS
For two years, Merritt Paulson tried to place majority owner of shortstop, LLC, a team in the MLS. First 2011 season
