TRACKTOWN, LTD PARTNER TO PROVIDE FREE BUS RIDES DURING IAAF WORLD JUNIORS

EUGENE, Ore. – TrackTown USA is making it easy for fans, officials, volunteers, coaches, athletes and media to get to historic Hayward Field and other destinations around town during the IAAF World Junior Championships Oregon 2014.

From Friday, July 18 to Tuesday, July 29, all Lane Transit District buses, including EmX lines, will be free throughout Eugene and Springfield to anyone with a meet credential.

In addition, from July 22-27 – the six days of competition – any spectator with a ticket will also be able to ride the system for free. Those who plan to buy tickets at Hayward Field can still get a free ride by visitinghttp://www.gotracktownusa.com/ before they leave home and downloading a “free ride” coupon.

The coupon is also available to those taking part or attending the Eugene Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday or any of the related activities at Hayward Field and Matthew Knight Arena on Friday and Saturday.

This is an amazing benefit for all meet participants and attendees provided by the partnership of TrackTown USA and Lane Transit District.

Parking is extremely limited in the Hayward Field area so public transportation and/or bicycling are the best options for getting there. A free bike valet will be available at the venue during the competition days. It is located on Agate Street in front of the Knight Law School, just across the street from Hayward Field.

EmX is a convenient bus rapid transit service that runs directly and frequently between downtown Eugene, the UO campus, downtown Springfield and the Gateway area of Springfield. Buses depart each stop location at about 10-minute intervals during the day, and more buses will be added to maintain this schedule until the competition is over each night.

To ride EmX from downtown Eugene, please park in the Overpark Garage at 10th Avenue and Oak Street. The garage is free on weekdays for vehicles entering after 5 p.m., and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.  Before 5 p.m. on weekdays, parking is free for the first hour and then $1 per hour, up to a maximum of $6 per day.

For downtown Springfield, parking is available at the Springfield EmX station. From the Gateway area in Springfield, you can park at the Gateway mall and ride the EmX.

Other buses, including those from the Valley River Mall area, will run on their usual schedules. For more information on EmX and LTD bus schedules, go to www.ltd.org.

So, whether you take a bus, or ride your bicycle, either mode of transportation is free, easy and green, helping us make the IAAF World Junior Championships a sustainable event.
